Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Aon Risk Solutions

Steve is chairman and chief executive officer of Aon Risk Solutions, the largest risk management and insurance brokerage firm in the world⁺. Steve is also a member of Aon plc’s Group Executive Committee.

Since joining Aon in 2005, Steve has been focused on client and broking leadership bringing talent and resources together to deliver high impact risk solutions to clients. He has represented many of the worlds largest corporations in helping them manage and mitigate risk. Steve has excellent long standing relationships with many of the senior leaders in the worldwide insurance and reinsurance industry.

Steve’s career began in insurance broking in 1977 at Bland Payne International (a predecessor company of Marsh). In 1989, he joined Lloyd Thompson where he developed their international non-marine business, and in 1996 joined the Lloyd Thompson Group board. In 2001, Steve was appointed deputy chief executive officer of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group (JLTG) Plc, formed by a merger between Lloyd Thompson and Jardine Insurance Brokers, and in 2002 was appointed chief executive officer of JLTG Plc. He joined Aon in May 2005 as chief executive officer of Aon Global based initially in London. Steve was additionally appointed chief executive officer of Aon Risk Solutions Americas in January 2006 and transferred to Aon’s Corporate HQ in Chicago. Steve was then appointed to his current role as chairman and chief executive officer of Aon Risk Solutions in February 2008.

Steve is an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and is also a past president of the Insurance Institute of London and a director of the International Insurance Society Inc.
