Aon Hewitt Submits Comments on HIPAA Privacy Rule Standards for Accounting of Disclosures of Protected Health Information

On August 1, 2011, Aon Hewitt submitted comments to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) regarding a notice of proposed rulemaking revising the standards for accounting of disclosures of protected health information, as required under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act's (HIPAA) Privacy Rule as modified by the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. The notice of proposed rulemaking was published in the Federal Registeron May 31, 2011.

In the comment letter, Aon Hewitt provides analysis and suggestions related to the right to an access report and the accounting of disclosures of protected health information.
