Biography

James is an Actuarial Consultant and joined the Retirement Practice of Aon Hewitt in Tokyo in 2009. His focus is the valuation of retirement benefit plans under U.S. and International accounting standards. He also manages projects for the design and transition of Japanese retirement benefit plans, including detailed sponsor and employee impact analysis.

He began his actuarial career in 2004 at a London based consultancy firm, advising both trustees and sponsors of UK pension schemes. At that time he gained experience in assisting clients with a major transition of both regulation and taxation of the UK pension market. He was responsible for a wide variety of actuarial work including individual member analysis and funding and accounting valuations. In overseeing large projects he has experience of working closely with external advisors and administrators.

James has an MA in Mathematics from Cambridge University and is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. He also enjoys learning and using conversational Japanese.
