Enriching and Adding Value

Both Aon and Manchester United consider giving back to the community a vital aspect of being a leader. Aon has partnered with the Manchester United Foundation on numerous occasions, and continues to help support the Christie, United for Unicef, and other endeavors.

The Aon Foundation is the principal vehicle for Aon's philanthropic programs, and the firm has a global partnership with the Red Cross, amongst connections with other established charities around the world. The Foundation hosted an event with Manchester United and the Seattle Sounders of the MLS in support of the Initiative for Global Development, which aims to end world hunger.

Skills & Drills
The program features coaches from the Manchester United Soccer Schools conducting soccer clinics for children, offering both developmental soccer training and lessons on the importance of teamwork and a healthy lifestyle. Aon has held these events in nearly a dozen countries over 3 continents.

Special Olympics
The Aon Foundation teamed up with the Manchester United Foundation and Special Olympics to hold a series of soccer clinics for over 150 Special Olympics athletes. Over 130 Aon colleagues volunteered at clinics were held in Boston, Seattle, Chicago, New Jersey and Washington, D.C. John Shiels, chief executive of the Manchester United Foundation, and his coaching staff, led the Special Olympics athletes through a series of drills, skill-building exercises, and fun activities.

Aon Global Service Day
Every year, Aon colleagues participate in fundraising and volunteer activities as part of the Aon Global Service Day. In 2010, 428 offices volunteered their time in support of over 200 local charities across the world. In total, Aon colleagues logged nearly 8,000 hours of community service during the global service day.
