Aon: Leader in human resources, reinsurance & risk Netherlands

Commodity Trade

Commodity Trade is a business that involves large and often complex risks on a regular basis. Not only the transport and storage of commodity goods involve risks. As a commodity trader you will also face liability risks and financial and political risks.

Aon Risk Services's Commodity Trade is dedicated to finding the best solutions for your commodity trade risks. We perform this task for every type of commodity and for transactions throughout the world.

Insurances for Commodity Trade

Being an insurance broker specialised in commodity trade we do not only have knowledge of the goods you trade and the risks involved, but also of the range of insurers and of the many types of available insurances. Insurance areas we are specialised in include:

  • Transport
  • Storage
  • Liability
  • Financial and political risks
In addition, we have specialists working within the Aon group who are capable of giving professional advice on specific risks. Based on our know-how of the insurance market we make the best match between the transaction, your requirements and the available insurances.

Tailor-made Solutions

There are no standard solutions for insuring international goods transactions. Each transaction is more or less unique. Therefore, our motto is 'tailor-made solutions'.

We thoroughly analyse risks in advance, taking into account the interests and the continuity of your business. Based on this analysis we ascertain by taking the appropriate measures which risks can be reduced and which risks need to be insured. For risks that need insurance we design an insurance solution, taking into account the commodity concerned, the method of transportation, the countries involved and your wishes.

Aon's Commodity Trade: A Single Organisation for Speed and Efficiency

In Commodity Trade time plays a crucial role. Once a trade is agreed, you want to see the insurance requirements handled quickly and efficiently. Possible claims should be settled quickly.

Aon's Commodity Trade strives to offer you the fastest service. That is why we have brought all the main activities of broking, administration and claims handling together in one unit. The result is that each employee in our unit will provide you with an excellent service at optimum speed.

Should a claim arise, we have direct access to the worldwide network of Lloyd's agents who will deal with the claim swiftly. Besides this, we can call on top experts in the field of commodity concerned. Our claims department ensures that the insurers meet every claim as soon as possible.

About Aon's Commodity Trade

The Commodity Trade unit is completely autonomous within Aon Risk Services which is part of the Aon worldwide group of companies.

Therefore, we can offer you the best of both worlds. On the one hand we provide you with the customer oriented service and speed of a smaller company. On the other hand we have got all the buying power of a large organisation, as one of the worlds largest insurance brokers.

Personal Service

Our service actually begins with the way in which we are organised. As Aon Risk Services unit Commodity Trade deals only with one group of clients, commodity traders, your needs are immediately given top priority. Because you want to have just one professional contact, we brought all broking, administrative, and claim-settlement activities together in one compact unit.

Each client, however large or small, is considered equally important and receives the same level of personal attention and service. And, if necessary, we will bring that service to you. An example of this is our forward post in Zurich, Switzerland, which services trades on the spot. To us service also means that, should you so desire, we explain a policy at your office, and supplying you with manuals free of charge.

Aon Warehouse Database

Aon's Commodity Trade has developed a unique Warehouse Database specifically aimed to help commodity traders find those warehouses worldwide, which have been checked and verified by independent inspectors to provide a secure storage location for goods whilst awaiting transport. The database is used and acknowledged by Underwriters as well as Trade Finance Banks as being a reliable source of information when considering storage risks. The database can be accessed via the intranet and is free of charge for Aon's Commodity Trade clients.
