Client situation

n 2010, two large US-based airlines announced their merger of equals. Aon was engaged by both merging airlines to partner with their HR leadership on the HR integration process. The acquisition involved approximately 86,000 employees in more than 50 countries. The client needed direction on areas raised below:

  • Support on overall HR project management and integration strategy
  • Develop organization design and talent assessment/selection process
  • Support the development and communication of retention incentives
  • Compare and go-forward alignment of benefit, compensation, and HR Policies including compensation strategy/structure, incentive programs, benefits programs, HR programs including performance management
  • Define desired future employee experience (culture) for the two organizations, soliciting employee feedback and input and recommending roadmap to attain efficient culture integration
  • Develop go-forward core HR structure, core HR processes, HR service delivery model and related implementation planning
  • Provide support to Day 1 communication development, planning and implementation
