Participation and Injuries

More than 38 million boys and girls participate in youth sports each year in the U.S.1

One out of fourteen players, about 2.6 million children, arrives in the emergency room with a sports-related injury. For those who do get hurt; sprains, strains, fractures, contusions, abrasions and concussions top the list of ER diagnoses.1

Experts claim the injury numbers are actually much higher, as studies only include children who went to the ER, and do not include trips to a family doctor, urgent care center or sports medicine clinic.2

The chart below illustrates the indemnity benefits payable under the program. The benefits and cost per day may be customized according to the tournament’s needs.

The Play-by-Play: Accident Case Scenario

A 14-year old cuts quickly across midfield to line up for a clear shot of the goal, the ball is passed by the midfielder and accepted by the striker....plant, kick, and....goal!!

It’s quickly evident though – he’s badly hurt. A trainer confirms a compound fracture above the knee. In severe pain, he’s rushed to the hospital.

The case scenario and benefit chart are for illustrative purposes only, exemplifying the type of injury that may occur, as well as the level of benefits that may be provided. Each injury is subject to benefit review and claim adjustment.
