Workmen Compensation

Work Injury Compensation Act

Under the Work Injury Compensation Act (WICA), all employees and their families are entitled to claim compensation against the employer as a result of injuries, contracting occupational diseases and/or death sustained at the workplace.

Aon experts can ensure that you have the right insurance policies in place to protect yourself against work injury compensation claims under the act or common law. These claims may consist of injured employees claiming medical leave, medical expenses as well as compensation for permanent incapacity or death, as stipulated by the Act.

Introducing Aon Care for Work Injury – A Tool for Efficient Employee Injury Management

For employers and HR professionals, Aon Care for Work Injury, a function within Aon Care, provides a seamless approach to employee recovery and rehabilitation through establishing a platform for all parties to work in unison.

This is with the aim of facilitating a successful return to work for the employee, which of course, also benefits the organisation. The primary objective is to facilitate a successful return to work for the employee with clear benefits to both the employee and the organisation.

Delivering an Integrated Work Injury Solution through active case management and a robust IT platform:

Ensuring clear and concise communication regarding the employee’s capacity for work1.

  • Maintaining on-going and regular communication with the Supervisor / Return to work (RTW) Coordinator to ensure all necessary parties are actively involved in decision making regarding return to work planning and rehabilitation

  • Allowing an Employer representative or Rehabilitation supervisor to accompany a worker to the medical consultation2

  • Responding to requests for written reports in a timely manner

  • Reducing low value administrative tasks through automation

1This will include written and/or telephone advice as requested and by utilising the medical certificate as an effective injury management communication tool.

2This will usually be done by seeing the worker alone first and then meeting with the employee and employer after the consult. However with the consent of the employee this may at times be done simultaneously.

Aon Care for Work Injury will also:

  • Maintain patient medical confidentiality

  • Assist with understanding medical terminology

  • Provide accurate and completed medical certification to both the employee and employer following each consultation.
