Aon Joins International Maritime Industries Forum

LONDON, 11 August 2006 – Aon Global Marine – a unit of Aon Corporation, a leading insurance broker and risk management consultant – has joined the International Maritime Industries Forum (IMIF), an influential body with a mission to improve maritime safety and promote the positive image of maritime industries worldwide.

Aon's membership reflects the need for the insurance market to continually be aware of the issues facing the shipping industry.

Steve Allum, Chairman of Aon’s Marine Global Practice Group, said: “By joining the IMIF and understanding the issues facing its members, we can work more effectively to promote cooperation between the insurance and shipping industries. We want to further embed risk management into shipping and in turn work with marine underwriters to issue appropriate rates for quality operators.”

Jim Davis, long standing Chairman of the IMIF, added: “We have always acknowledged that insurance is an integral constituent of the maritime scene and I am delighted to welcome Aon.”
