The One Brief is Aon's weekly guide to the most important issues affecting business, the economy and people's lives in the world today.
Our community affairs programme
At Aon, we support a range of initiatives designed to contribute to the wider community.
Our core activities include coordinating mentoring and volunteering programmes for colleagues, mostly aimed at preparing young people from disadvantaged communities for the world of work.
We also have a strong fundraising and charitable giving culture, with matched funding for employees who raise sponsorship for charity and we operate a payroll giving scheme. We have a network of community champions in all our office locations throughout the UK who help support the community affairs programme and provide feedback on local fundraising and community-related events.
To achieve our objectives we work with a number of partner organisations in London and across the regions.
Community Arts Programme
In the summer of 2015, to coincide with Aon's move to its new global headquarters in The Leadenhall Building in London, we launched the Aon Community Art Awards.
The programme works with students from Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester Colleges of Art to showcase their work in the client suite of the iconic building, and during the year students receive mentoring and a series of workshops and training to help them transition from student life to the commercial art world. The students receive payment for the loan of their work and also are eligible for two cash prizes.
The Aon UK Foundation
Every two years, Aon colleagues vote for their favourite small, medium and large charities which partner with Aon and receive the benefits of fundraising efforts from all colleagues.
For the 2016/7 period the chosen charities are: Macmillan Cancer Support; Dementia UK and When You Wish Upon A Star.
