Aon launches innovative insurance to safeguard from pollution incidents

Sydney, 8 May 2019 - Aon (NYSE:AON), the leading global professional services firm providing a broad range of risk, retirement and health solutions, has launched Safety Hazard Environmental (SHE) Liability insurance for safeguarding companies against environmental events.

The SHE Liability insurance combines Statutory Liability, Workplace Health & Safety and Environmental Incident Response (EIR). The EIR extension can address the costs from an unexpected pollution incident which may arise from their business activities.

Head of Environmental Services Group at Aon, Cami Mok, said, “Pollution incidents are costly, complicated, and can take a long time to resolve, however the EIR extension will be an enormous benefit to companies exposed to environment and pollution risks.

This is a unique solution for companies at risk of a pollution event, for example manufacturing, construction, transport and logistics companies.

The new solution ensures businesses have an environmental incident response in place in the event of a pollution incident, and provides a broader response to pollution than General Liability or Property policies.

The key features of the bespoke EIR extension include:

• Emergency response costs to address and mitigate a pollution event
• Insured’s costs to investigate and clean-up pollution
• Compensation to third parties who have been injured from the pollution event, including defence costs
