In his current role, Karl heads Aon’s Captive & Insurance Management office in Malta. He sits on the Boards of Aon Insurance Managers Malta as well as White Rock Europe and White Rock Netherlands – Aon’s flagship protected cell vehicles established in Malta. He is responsible for developing Aon’s offering in Malta and creating value for clients and stakeholders.
Karl started his career in 1995 with a local audit firm in Malta. In 1999 he moved into industry where he held various finance positions. In 2005 Karl became Group Financial Controller for one of Malta’s leading travel and tourism Groups. He moved to Guernsey in 2008, joining Aon taking on responsibility for a number of captives whose parents operate in a wide range of industries. He joined the Senior Management Team in 2010 and was responsible for the general management of seventeen captives and one PCC. He also sat on a number of client captive Boards.
Karl relocated to Gibraltar in May 2012 taking over the role of Associate Director with Aon. As part of the leadership team he was responsible for Client Relationship and Business Development. He was the Operational Executive on the majority of clients with responsibility for adding value by investigating and proposing growth opportunities and innovation possibilities.
Karl returned to Malta in late 2015. He holds an Honours degree in Accountancy from the University of Malta as well as a Certified Public Accountant warrant from the Malta Ministry of Finance. He is also a Fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants and Treasurer of the Malta Insurance Managers Association.
