Matthew Hills – Client Service Director

Matthew Hills Profile

Matthew started his insurance career in 2002 with Marsh Ltd (part of the Marsh and McLennan group of companies) as part of their graduate scheme in London. Matthew's initial role was as an insurance broker for the Private Client and Fine Arts division, placing risks in Lloyds and the London market area. In 2005 Matthew moved to Marsh's Risk Consulting team to be a consultant as part of the Captive Consulting unit. Here he provided advice on all aspects of captives including feasibility studies, strategic reviews and domicile reviews. This role also encompassed producing Marsh's inaugural Captive Benchmarking study and control of Marsh's internal and external captive news/publications. In early 2005 Matthew became a Senior Consultant.

In late 2005 he seized the opportunity to expand his knowledge about the inner functions of captives and joined Marsh's Captive Management team in the Isle of Man. His Insurance Officer Role meant responsibility for the insurance operations (both underwriting and claims) of circa seven captives from a range of industries, including both private and public sectors, with particular focus upon the large and complex captives of a major international bank.

After almost 11 years with Marsh, in August 2013, Matthew joined Aon Isle of Man as a Client Service Director to apply his knowledge and experience, and to expand his understanding of different types of captive/company structures. Matthew is responsible for the delivery of underwriting, claims and administrative functions for several captive clients.

In his time as a captive manager Matthew has overseen all aspects of the company life cycle for different captives: creation, expansion, reorganization, transfer (in and out) and run-off/liquidation.

Matthew is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner, an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and has an Honours Degree in Business Studies from the University of Hertfordshire, England.

Matthew is based in the Isle of Man with his young family.
