Michael is a Director within Aon’s Captive & Insurance Management team based in Dublin.
He is responsible for client relationships on a portfolio of captive insurance and reinsurance clients. Michael is also responsible for consulting and new business initiatives, supporting clients to continually understand and improve their risk profile by identifying and quantifying the risks they face; assisting them with the selection and implementation of the appropriate risk retention and risk mitigation solutions.
Michael joined Aon in July 2008 as an Associate Director with responsibility for a number of captive and insurance clients as well as the development of innovation initiatives within the company. Michael was promoted to Director in 2013, joining the Board of Aon Insurance Managers (Dublin) Limited.
Michael has 14 years’ experience in captive & insurance management, captive advisory and risk consulting. He has supported the feasibility, authorisation, set-up and operations of many captive insurance companies. With a broad experience of varied risk consulting projects and a strong insurance regulatory knowledge, Michael specialises in captive consulting, risk management and Solvency II.
Prior to joining Aon Michael worked for KPMG, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant within the Financial Services assurance department, focusing on the audit of insurance and reinsurance companies. Michael began his career as a claims handler for Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company.
Michael is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (FCA). He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree (BComm) from University College Dublin.
