2021 Year End PCS Report
Nationwide PCS loss estimates for 2021 in total were $71.1 billion, making 2021 the third costliest year for insured loss in the U.S. since 2005, behind only 2017 and 2020 [$89.9 billion and $74.0 billion (trended), respectively]. The 2021 loss level is well above the long-term average of $19.7 billion from 1950-2020, the 15-year (2006-2020) average of $34.6 billion and the 5-year (2016-2020) average of $53.8 billion. PCS recognized a record-breaking seventy-one events in 2021, surpassing the previous record of seventy events that occurred in 2020.
