Aon appoints Jerry Edmondson in new strategic communication and engagement role

LONDON (2 August 2017) - Aon Employee Benefits, the UK health and benefits business of Aon plc (NYSE: AON), has hired Jerry Edmondson in the new role of strategic communications and engagement proposition leader. Jerry joins the communications team with a specific focus on helping employers change employee behaviour through engagement.

Prior to joining Aon, Jerry worked in head of communication roles at Jardine Lloyd Thompson and Hymans Robertson, helping clients to design, develop and deliver effective communication campaigns. Most recently, he was managing consultant at Like Minds, a boutique communications agency.

Aon consults on strategic communications, change management and internal communications that help with employee engagement and behaviours.

Jerry Edmondson said:

"We're seeing that clients increasingly want a connected employee engagement strategy. They want to influence employee behaviour in a way that's both positive for the organisation and for the individual.

"With the physical wellbeing agenda now being supplemented by emotional, financial and social wellbeing initiatives, the initial challenge remains in engaging people in the right way. This means moving beyond 'simple' demographic segmentation and dealing with employees' fundamental emotions and attitudes about equally fundamental concepts like health and money.

"But it doesn't stop there. The longer-term challenge is creating an environment that sustains engagement to the point where new employee behaviours become good employee habits. This is where technology is essential and Aon's ability to support engagement through technology is unparalleled."

Jon Bryant, director of Aon Employee Benefits, said:

"Jerry will take an active role with clients across the employee benefits business, aligning to our overall growth strategies. His experience in pensions, boutique communication consultancy, and training and development, give him a unique insight into what will and won't change employee behaviours, connecting our work - not least deep client data analysis - with client-focused results."
