Aon Singapore hosts Urban Land Institute Event: Access to the C-Suite: Driving Change from the Top - 11 March 2016

In celebration of the International Women’s Day, on 11 March 2016, Aon Singapore, Singapore’s top-rate Insurance Broker, hosted the “Access to the C-Suite: Driving Change from the Top” Event organised by the Women’s Leadership Initiative from the Urban Land Institute. Up for discussion were challenges faced by women in their climb up the corporate ladder and what life tips they have for the new rising generation of women who simply, want to have it all.

Many prominent ladies from middle to senior management as well as from the C-suites from the property industry attended this event. Some of the corporate entities represented were CBRE, Knight Frank, Colliers International, Four Seasons and Jones Lang LaSalle.

Jane Drummond, Regional Head of Sales & Marketing (Asia), gave a good welcome and opening address about Aon’s focus on empowering people to build a better world for the future. The latest corporate video was shown to introduce the audience to what the Brand stands for: to provide empowered results for our customers and stakeholders in the field of risk management.

On whether the modern corporate woman can have it all, Pauline Goh, CEO, CBRE Singapore and Southeast Asia, said, “Of course a woman can have it all. It is all about balance. An obsessive focus on career or family is both not healthy. Singapore is a generally pro-family place where you can get help anywhere from family to outside facilities.”

She also added, “We shouldn’t be so consciously focused on outdoing the men. We don’t need to compare against men, we just do what we do best and we will just do well.”

“Helping people grow is what gives me the inspiration I need,” she shared.

Ong Choon Fah, CEO, Southeast Asia, DTZ, closed the panel discussion with a relevant insight. “At the end of the day, when I step into a room of men, I don’t see it as a room of men, I just see it that we are all in it – together.”

All in all, guests and Aon attendees were happy with the event. Audrey Tan, Sales and Marketing, Aon, agreed that this was a good opportunity for women from leadership positions to share their personal struggles and life lessons which are especially useful to young professionals on their journeys up the corporate ladder.
