Board Performance

Aon's Board Performance tools enable the efficient measurement of the performance of the board and their advisers in delivering their strategic objectives. The board can reflect on their collective achievements over the year and assess the extent to which their governance framework and advisers have supported this, ultimately leading to a cycle of improved governance.

How We’ve Helped Our Clients

Speechmark

We supported the board of a large pharmaceutical client following the sponsor’s transformation programme. The aim was to adapt the way the board conducted its day to day operations to become more agile. This was achieved through a number of training sessions and workshops to identify areas of current practice that were no longer required. Streamlined business planning was introduced for the Board that complemented the sponsor’s approach.

Board Performance Assessment

Completing Aon’s board performance assessment will help you understand:

  • Whether the board has met its objectives for the period under assessment.
  • Whether the board is supported in the most appropriate way by its advisers.
  • How to get back on track and enhance future delivery.
This will enable the board to better deliver its agenda of work, leading to better, faster, more efficient delivery of its aims.

Strategic Objectives Assessment

Many pension boards will have set out their strategic objectives in policy statements, 3-5 year goals and what this means for them in terms of a one year action plan. Completing an assessment against these objectives helps boards consider:

  • Whether they have delivered their one-year actions to enable them to move onto their other goals.
  • How they delivered the actions through the board and / or supporting governance structure.
  • What went well and what are the areas for the development of future activities.
  • What were the barriers to delivery and how these can be managed.

If you have not yet set out your strategic objectives, please see our page on Strategic Business Plan for further details.

Aon’s online survey is focused on the board’s strategy, whether and how the objectives have been delivered and how future delivery can be enhanced.
