DOL Announces Mental Health Parity Compliance Assistance National Webcast
On May 9, 2022, the Department of Labor (DOL) announced the date of its upcoming Mental Health Parity Compliance Assistance national webcast. The webcast is scheduled for May 24, 2022, and is geared toward employers with group plans or plan service providers with questions about the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA). The webcast will cover the changes to the law made by the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, the DOL’s 2022 MHPAEA Report to Congress, frequently asked questions, as well as other available guidance and tools.

HHS Announces Launch of Maternal Mental Health Hotline
On May 6, 2022, the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS’) Health Resources and Services Administration announced the launch of the Maternal Mental Health Hotline, a confidential, toll-free hotline for expecting and new mothers experiencing mental health challenges. Those who contact the hotline can receive a range of support, including brief interventions from trained counselors, as well as referrals to both community-based and telehealth providers. Callers also will receive information and referrals to support groups and other community resources. Specific information about the hotline and additional mental health resources is available in the news release.
