CMS Releases Final Regulations on MSP Eligibility Determination and Enrollment
On September 18, 2023, the Department of Health and Human Services’ Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released final regulations that simplify the processes for eligible individuals to enroll and retain eligibility in the Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs). The final regulations better align enrollment into the MSPs with requirements and processes for other public programs. The final regulations also reduce the complexity of applications and reenrollment for eligible individuals. The regulations become effective November 17, 2023. However, there are separate compliance dates identified throughout the regulations that should be referred to regarding various provisions. Please refer to the final regulations for details.
