Sugato is a Post Graduate in Economics from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. He has worked for almost 30 years in different organisations in various categories. He has been working in SIAM for more than 15 years on issues related to International Trade Policy and Relations, Economic Research and Taxation Policy, Marketing & Commercial aspects, Styling & Design, Raw Materials, Human Capital, Logistics, etc. He is in charge of activities related to Trade Fairs including Auto Expo.

Sugato works closely with Govt of India officials on various policy issues. He represents Indian Automobile industry in APEC Automotive Dialogue, OICA, IMMA, etc., international bodies and has actively participated in WTO and FTA meetings.

He is the Secretary of various SIAM Councils including International Business, Demand Management and Economic Affairs. These three Councils oversee activities of almost 20 Committees in diverse areas of the industry.

Before joining SIAM, Sugato has worked in Management Consulting organisations for over 14 years. He has independently handled more than 70 assignments in the areas of Industrial Market Research, Benchmarking, Technology Assessment and Logistics etc.
