LONDON, 20 July 2026 – Aon plc (NYSE: AON), a leading global professional services firm, has found that while UK employers are increasingly recognising the importance of supporting employees’ financial wellbeing, many have yet to make it an immediate priority.
Aon’s UK Benefits and Trends Survey of 240 UK professionals working in human resources, reward, compensation and benefits roles across organisations of varying sizes and industries, found that 53 percent of employers describe financial wellbeing as an important priority. While the findings reflect a growing awareness of how employers view financial wellbeing as a key part of the broader employee value proposition, they also suggest that practical implementation of financial wellbeing programmes is not yet keeping pace. Helping employees navigate financial pressures can help strengthen workforce resilience and improve engagement.
Further survey highlights include:
- Employers are moving toward more integrated financial wellbeing strategies by combining financial education, self-service tools, AI-enabled guidance and personalised financial coaching rather than relying on standalone financial products.
- Financial education remains the cornerstone of employer support with 72 percent planning to introduce financial seminars and 35 percent looking at group or individual financial coaching.
- Financial resilience is becoming the focus of workplace financial wellbeing with employers focusing more on day-to-day money management, emergency savings and long-term financial security. Investment in workplace savings solutions has risen from 23 percent to 28 percent, while debt-based benefits such as salary advances have declined from 11 percent to seven percent.
Fleur Iannazzo, chartered financial adviser and associate partner in financial wellbeing for Aon, said:
“Financial wellbeing is evolving from a ‘nice-to-have’ benefit to becoming an expected part of a modern employee value proposition. Employers increasingly recognise that access to financial products alone is not enough. Employees need personalised support that helps them to make confident financial decisions at different stages of life.
“Employers are also starting to take a more end-to-end approach to financial wellbeing, bringing together education, coaching and digital tools. That matters because people need strong day-to-day money foundations before they can feel confident about longer-term saving and investment. The employers who understand this – and see financial wellbeing as more than just retirement investments – will be better placed to build more financially resilient workforces.”
