Europe’s energy transition as a driver of recovery

2 December - Online Event - 9am-10:35am GMT

COVID-19 is creating unique challenges for European economies but has also reinforced the bloc’s commitment to the deepening energy transition.

Already a number of European energy majors have made clear their ambitions to reach net zero, and it is apparent that European policymakers view the pandemic as an opportunity to bring about a green recovery - underpinned by an evolving energy sector and a European Green Deal that aims to make Europe carbon neutral by 2050.

Join senior European and international political leaders, and major players in the energy sector, as they discuss the opportunities and challenges of the green recovery; the role of insurance and finance in supporting the transition; and the part EU funding and capital investment will play in this evolution.

Key themes

  • What changes can businesses and consumers expect from the green recovery? How can the energy sector prepare?
  • What role can industry and insurance together play in the energy transition?
  • What are the key drivers of the energy transition? How could a stronger Capital Markets Union assist institutional investors in this effort?
  • How can we ensure adequate protection for SMEs, as well as consumers, who may struggle to meet requirements as a result of COVID-19?
  • How do we promote new business models?
