OPRA Update Webinar. Salary sacrifice- Are you & your employees ready for the tax charges which will apply from April 2018 at the latest?

Date: 7 September 2017

Time: 11:00am - 12:00pm

The government’s culling of the tax advantages of salary sacrifice arrangements from 6 April impacts two of the mainstays of flexible benefit arrangements – group life assurance and group income protection. How employers provide life cover is also in the spotlight due to cover on a ‘registered’ and ‘excepted’ basis now being treated differently for Benefit in Kind purposes and given the rising popularity of excepted arrangements this is a significant additional complication for employers. Many employers took the short term option of utilising grandfathering, but as this is a fragile concept and with looming renewal dates when grandfathering will end, or at the latest 6 April 2018, they now need to decide whether the tax changes affect their long-term provision strategy and if so, how?

Aon urge employers to consider these issues without delay and is running a webinar on potential group life and income protection redesign considerations.

Employee absence crisis - are employers doing enough?

Date: 31 May - 1 June 2016

Expert Panel Discussion in conjunction with HBJ Gateley

The total cost of health per employee is typically between £2,000-£3,000 per annum or 4%- 6% of payroll.

Against that backdrop, are absence policies designed to fail? Are employers doing enough to help employees suffering from physical and mental health issues? What can employers, advisors and occupational health specialists do to improve support and policies in this area?

Our experience working with business owners and HR professionals has highlighted the following common trends threatening businesses across different sectors:

  • increasing costs of absence impacts on profitability;
  • more employees reporting increased stress and psychological problems;
  • fitness for work v fitness to engage; and
  • dealing with sensitive absence issues

Considering these issues will be our Question Time-style panel of employment law and health care specialists:

  • James Kenrick- Healthcare, Aon
  • Kim Pattullo- Partner, HBJ Gateley
  • Ann Frances Cooney- Partner, HBJ Gateley
  • Dr. Chris Pugh- Duradiamond Health Care

If you would like to attend, please register.

  • Population health issues aren't unique to each employer - see how we use statistical data and analytics to tackle this issue in a cost effective and innovative way

And Jon Bryant, Head of Online and Communications is conducting a round table on the following:

11:45 - 12:20 R6 - How important will gamification be in fully engaging generation Z?

  • The role of gamification in a multi-generational communication strategy
  • How do we use gamification within employee benefits today?
