Webinar Replay: Helping DC Savers to Make Better Choices.

In his Mansion House Speech, the Chancellor announced a raft of pension initiatives and updates on ongoing consultations. One of those announcements was the next stage of the review focusing on Helping Savers understand their pension choices: Supporting Individuals at the point of access.

This is a hugely important topic as decisions made by individuals accessing retirement savings will influence their financial position for the rest of their lives, including whether they will need to ‘un-retire’ a few years down the line.

During this discussion - chaired by Pádraig Floyd, we discuss the ways that DC Plans and employers can offer the support needed by individuals, discussing the different options currently available and how they can be utilised in the most effective manner.

Aon Associate Partner Steven Leigh is joined on this discussion by Dianne Day, a professional trustee from IGG and Martin Banerjee, a chartered financial planner from Origen.

Our panel share experiences on how Trustees have been supporting DC savers reaching retirement and the areas in which individuals typically need most support.

Key discussion points include:

Ongoing cost-of-living challenges:

  • Is this starting to bite for DC saving contributions?
  • Are savers approaching retirement accessing their pension savings early?
  • Do they understand the implications of this and will they end up remaining in the workforce beyond their planned retirement age through financial necessity?

DC default investment performance:

  • How savers are reacting to their fluctuating balances
  • What schemes can do to better engage and educate their members on today’s actions and future implications
