Martin Bird FIA - Head of Risk Settlement

Martin is authorised to advise on all forms of settlement transactions, including insurance, reinsurance and derivative structures. He has lead advice on longevity hedging transactions since market inception and on bulk annuity transactions over a number of years, in total covering over £50bn of liabilities. Martin's clients include BAE Systems, BMW, Astrazenca, Rolls Royce and the Pension Protection Fund. Martin is widely regarded as one of the UK's leading settlement advisers.



Paul Belok FIA

Senior risk settlement adviser, specialising and authorised to advise on bulk annuity transactions. Lead adviser on transactions of all shapes and sizes, covering buy-ins and buy-outs, trigger-based transactions, price locks and medically underwritten deals. Cases advised on in the public domain include CAA (£1.6bn), Aon (3 transactions totalling £900m), TI (4 transactions totalling £800m), Lehman (£670m), Cadbury (£500m), Cookson/Vesuvius (£350m including follow-on tranches for new retirees), Minet (2 transactions totalling £300m).



Dominic Grimley FIA FPMI

Risk settlement adviser specialising in bulk annuity transactions and complete settlement of pension schemes. Dominic has secured schemes since the late 1990s, with his transactions including over one hundred completed buy-outs as well as a wide range of annuity deals for ongoing schemes. Dominic also looks after Aon's Pathway service for streamlined bulk annuity transactions and our range of due diligence services, both enabling annuity buyers to settle transactions quickly from an informed position.



Tim Gordon FIA

Longevity specialist and risk settlement adviser. Tim's longevity modelling and advisory team provides the mortality analysis and risk advice to support all of our risk transfer transaction advice to pension plans, insurers and reinsurers. Tim and his team developed and implemented the Aon Longevity Model (AHLM), an integral component of all Aon longevity advice. Tim's work over the past few years has included advising reinsurers on best estimate mortality in relation to UK pension plan-related transactions for over £40bn of liability in total and advising a major global insurer on best estimate mortality in relation to a US pension plan group annuity transaction relating to $26 billion of liability. Tim is currently also the chairman of the UK Continuous Mortality Investigation (CMI), the body responsible for producing standard mortality tables and projections for the UK actuarial profession.



Michael Walker FIA

Risk settlement adviser with 15 years' industry experience. His primary role is advising UK and International clients on the full range of risk settlement structures, with a particular focus on bulk annuities and longevity swaps. He recently re-joined Aon following 2.5 years of seeing de-risking from the other side of the fence in Legal & General's Pension Risk Transfer business. At L&G Michael worked on a wide range of UK transactions and also jointly established L&G's US Pension Risk Transfer business. This culminated in him jointly pricing and structuring L&G's first US bulk annuity transaction for $450m.



John Baines FIA

Risk settlement adviser, with broad experience advising clients in relation to bulk annuities and wider opportunities to reduce risk. John advises schemes across the full spectrum of bulk annuity options, including developing Aon's unique AHEAD platform to collect health and lifestyle data. Having worked with insurers to develop this platform, he has a deep insight into each of the member interaction, underwriting and broking aspects of a transaction. John's experience includes being lead adviser on Kingfisher's £230m largest ever medically underwritten buy-in, and lead adviser to 3 scheme buy-out completed within 6 months as part of a $4bn corporate transaction.



Tom Scott FIA

Risk settlement adviser, with broad experience across the market on bulk annuity transactions (medical and traditional) and longevity swaps. Authorised to advise on bulk annuity and longevity swap transactions. Tom is the lead for Aon's Implemented Annuities service. To date, Tom has advised on a £0.9bn multi-transaction insurance exercise, a medically underwritten buy-out of an executive plan and a £2bn longevity hedge.



Hannah Cook FIA

Risk settlement adviser, specialising in longevity hedging, reinsurance treaties and bulk annuity transactions. Authorised to advise on longevity swap and bulk annuity transactions. To date, Hannah has successfully delivered and advised on risk transfer covering over £11bn of liabilities, including several longevity swap transactions and the CAA pensioner buy-in covering £1.6bn of liabilities. Hannah also advised on the structuring and terms of a multi-£bn longevity swap for a FTSE100 company. She has managed the implementation of three significant longevity swap transactions and is jointly responsible for Aon’s longevity offering to clients looking to transfer less than £600m of longevity risk. Over the past three years, Hannah has also been responsible for all operational aspects of the group.



Tiziana Perrella FIA

Risk settlement adviser specialising in bulk annuity transactions and pension scheme wind ups. Tiziana has worked as an adviser in the bulk annuity space for over 15 years and has been leading adviser on over 100 bulk annuity transactions, including the first buyout in respect of active members and the first buy-in to include deliberate mismatching of benefits. Prior to joining Aon Hewitt, Tiziana was head of the bulk annuities team at JLT.
