Aon's 2019 Hazards Conference
This year’s Conference will examine the multi-dimensional nature of risk and consider the interactions, blurred boundaries and interdependencies between hazard, exposure and vulnerabilities across human, economic, cyber-physical and financial systems.
Globally, the exposure to risk of people and assets is increasing faster than vulnerability is decreasing, thus generating a continuing steady rise in disaster-related loss potential.
Increasing risk, driven by various factors – urbanisation, environmental change, digitisation, declining trust in financial and regulatory institutions, among others – creates major challenges to the resilience of local, national and global communities. Faced with such challenges, both the private and public sector are charged with exploring viable solutions that will protect, build, and finance natural, human and social environments now and into the future.
As a result, we are seeing an evolution of new products from the re/insurance world while governments and NGOs embrace a revolution in how they approach risk through new private sector partnerships and solutions such as catastrophe bonds and parametric overs.
