Leading industry scholarship program opens for submissions

Applications for the 13th Aon Benfield Scholarship are now open for 2017. Awarded by Aon Benfield and the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF), the scholarship recognises an outstanding professional in the local insurance or reinsurance industry for demonstrating their potential to be leaders in the space.

The scholarship offers the winner the opportunity to embark on an educational journey with other members of the industry, allowing them to develop advanced technical skills and enhanc knowledge of the international reinsurance markets.

The winner receives a trip to London to attend the 52nd annual Aon Benfield Global Clients Reinsurance Seminar from 26 June to 6 July 2017. The seminar provides valuable information about the principles and practices of arranging reinsurance on a global scale.

“We are very excited to once again open up the scholarship program to the industry’s up and coming talent,” said Robert De Souza, President APAC/CEO Australia and New Zealand Aon Benfield, and Chair of the judging panel.

“Aon Benfield’s annual gathering for global clients in London is regarded as an outstanding educational opportunity for insurance and reinsurance professionals. It’s a forum to discuss issues that matter most to the industry, get up to speed with trends, and gain valuable insights and best practices from leaders across the globe,” said Mr De Souza.

Prue Willsford, CEO of ANZIIF and scholarship judge, said she is looking forward to seeing the applications based on this year’s topic.

“Every year we get fantastic submissions for the Aon Benfield Scholarship and I am sure this year will be no different,” she said. “The opportunity to attend the Aon Benfield Seminar in London is one that cannot be beaten in terms of career development. I encourage everyone to apply.”

The scholarship is open to Australian and New Zealand permanent residents and citizens with at least two years’ experience working in insurance or reinsurance. All full entries are also awarded six ANZIIF Certified Insurance Professional (CIP) points for the 2017 calendar year.
To apply for the scholarship, applicants are required to write a 2,500 word essay discussing “Lifetime Insurance – A revolution, or a step too far?”

Applications close at 5:00 pm (AEST) on Tuesday 11 April 2017. For more information and a copy of the application form, please visit the ANZIIF website.
