Mike is the Deputy Managing Director leading the Southeast Region operations of Aon’s Captive & Insurance Management. He operates from the Charleston, South Carolina office. Mike joined Aon in 1996 and has been based in South Carolina since 2008. Prior to coming to South Carolina, Mike managed the Hawaii office of Aon’s Captive & Insurance Management for five years. During his time with Aon, Mike has experience in managing captives under the laws and regulations of a number of domiciles, including, among others: South Carolina, Delaware, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Vermont, Bermuda, and Arizona.
Mike’s experience includes managing all aspects of pure captives, association captives and risk retention groups. He has managed clients of various sizes, from privately held manufacturing operations to hospital groups to multi-national, Fortune 500 corporations. Mike is involved in all aspects of captive formation and management with an emphasis on managing the day to day needs of captive clients.
Mike received the Palmetto Captive Award in 2011 presented by the South Carolina Captive Insurance Association in recognition of his efforts in the captive insurance industry.
He has been involved and continues to be involved in a number of Captive Industry Associations, including serving as a Director and officer of the South Carolina Captive Insurance Association (SCCIA) and the Hawaii Captive Insurance Council.
Mike is a frequent speaker on captive topics and at the College of Charleston.
Mike has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Babson College and a Masters in English Literature from the University of Vermont. He also holds the Associate in Risk Management certification.
