Andrew Ballheimer

 

Former Global Managing Partner of Allen & Overy LLP; Board/Advisory Board Member; Visiting Professor

 

Andrew Ballheimer has been a member of AON’s Global M&A Advisory Board since 2021. Previously he was the Global Managing Partner of leading international law firm Allen & Overy LLP (A&O). He spent over 35 years practicing as a multiple award-winning M&A and capital markets lawyer, working in London, New York and Tokyo and advising multinational corporations and global financial institutions on a wide range of matters.

During Andrew’s leadership, A&O was awarded, among others, the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for promoting opportunity through social mobility (2017), the FT Most Innovative Law Firm (2017 and 2018), a Top Global Employer for LGBT+ Staff (Stonewall 2019 and 2020) and a Top 50 Employer in the U.K. for Women (2019).

Andrew was a trustee of Moorfields Eye Charity for 12 years (and continues to be involved as a member of their Fundraising Committee) and is a Visiting Professor at the University of West London. Following his retirement from A&O at the end of 2020, Andrew has joined the board of directors of U.K. Government Investments and Factor Law Inc. He has also been a member of the U.K. Trade and Business Commission and in 2021 Andrew was commissioned by the then Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice (Sir Robert Buckland KBE KC MP) to review the effectiveness of the U.K. Ministry of Justice Board.
