1) Does Your Captive Have an Investment Strategy? (March 2025)
There are three stages in the lifecycle of insurance captives:
For a newly formed captive, priorities center around ensuring proper capitalization to meet regulatory and solvency requirements for the underwritten risks. Capital must be available to pay administrative costs and, most importantly, claims, which are dependent on the short tail or long tail nature of the underwritten risks.
2) Aon Global 2025 Cyber Risk Report: Insights for Professional Service Firms (July 2025)
Although the report identifies several positive trends benefiting all industry segments, it also highlights the necessity of constant vigilance and continuous investment in cyber risk controls based on the ongoing evolution of the threat landscape.
Professional service firms continue to lead all industry segments in improving cyber security controls and minimizing the number of “Red Flags” reported by Aon’s CyQu risk maturity evaluation platform.
3) U.S. Law Firms Explore Efficiencies in the Face of Continued Healthcare Inflation (May 2025)
When the primary product of a business is its people, it is of the utmost importance to offer a robust benefit program that keeps participants healthy and engaged. However, many law firms are feeling cost pressures brought by high healthcare trend and elevated general inflation. They are asking their people leaders to explore opportunities for greater efficiency.
The Professional Services Practice at Aon collaborated with Aon’s Data Forensics and Informatics team to compile data on “Am Law 200” law firms with an average size of 1,020 participants, including partners. The report is based on data for the 2024 plan year and is the fourth report on health plan benchmarking to be released by our practice.
4) Navigating Accounting Claims: Insights from Defense Counsel (February 2025)
When a professional liability claim is asserted against an accounting firm, several different firm stakeholders are involved in investigating, mitigating, and managing the matter throughout the claim’s lifecycle. Stakeholders include the individual whose work is in question, the managing partner ultimately responsible for calling the shots, the engagement team members, the general counsel or chief risk officer and the originator of the business.
Each stakeholder brings different knowledge, interests, time and emotions to the evaluation and handling of the claim. Marshalling firm resources to effectively manage the interplay of these stakeholders is key to achieving effective and efficient claim management results.
5) Foundations of Accountants Professional Indemnity Insurance - A Primer (April 2025)
Professional indemnity policies provide coverage for claims arising from acts, errors and omissions relating to the provision of professional services, referred to in some policies as wrongful acts.
These products indemnify the insured entity for financial costs incurred while defending claims and covered settlements or judgements.
Due to the range of services offered by accounting firms, a variety of claims can arise. For this reason, coverage is provided on a broad form basis rather than specifically identifying the range of covered activities or claims sources. The insurance market has historically provided responsive policy wordings.
