ESG Maturity Diagnostic

The Financial Services Group (FSG) and the ESG Consulting Practice at Aon can help clients convey their ESG narrative to D&O underwriters for this emerging risk. A part of that preparation involves utilizing Aon’s multi-faceted, proprietary ESG Maturity Diagnostic. The proprietary tool addresses potential exposure to ESG oversight, practices, policies and reporting. The tool uses only externally sourced information without requiring a manual questionnaire to be completed by the client. Such data is what financial stakeholders and ratings agencies typically use in their ESG assessments for investing, proxy voting and increasingly for insurance. The utilization of third-party data also removes the administrative burden on the company from having to input information and bolsters the credibility of the tool’s findings.

Aon’s ESG Maturity Diagnostic can help clients review and assess the framework of their ESG maturity and how to convey the past, present and future of their ESG journey to D&O underwriters. The tool can allow underwriters to understand better the company’s ESG risks and how the company is differentiated in the market.

Aon can conduct a current-state assessment, build a tailored board and executive education session for a company, and utilize the results throughout the D&O marketing efforts. Recent D&O placement results suggest a strong correlation between sound ESG performance and the company’s ability to secure more favorable insurance coverage.
