Canadian Insurance Services Regulatory Organizations (CISRO) “Principles of Conduct for Insurance Intermediaries”

The Canadian Insurance Services Regulatory Organizations (CISRO) is a forum of Canadian regulatory authorities who are dedicated to consistent qualifications and conduct of business standards for insurance intermediaries. Members are heads of various provincial insurance councils and Superintendents of Insurance. Their mission is to collaborate on initiatives that support a consistent approach to consumer protection through the regulation of insurance intermediaries.

In early 2022 CISRO published the “Principles of Conduct for Insurance Intermediaries” to help ensure the fair treatment of customers in the life & health and property & casualty insurance sectors. As an insurance broker these Principles of Conduct are applicable to Aon. Subsequently, the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO) imposed a requirement on all licensed insurance brokers in Ontario to share copies of both the CISRO Principles of Conduct document and a RIBO “Fact Sheet About Your Registered Insurance Broker” with all clients. At Aon we feel that our insurance brokers have always complied with the CISRO Principles of Conduct given the obligations imposed under the RIBO Code of Conduct and Aon’s own Code of Business Conduct.

If you have any questions about either of these documents please contact your account team.
