SGI administers the Government of Saskatchewan's mandatory auto insurance and vehicle registration program. When a vehicle owner buys their registration, they also buy a basic package of insurance. The basic plate insurance includes coverage for:
- damage to your own vehicle (subject to a deductible),
- personal injury resulting from a vehicle crash,
- liability for damage your vehicle may cause to the vehicle or property of others or injuries it may cause to other people.
