Aon’s Insurance Managers Cayman can trace its origins back to 1975, as part of the International Risk Management Group (IRMG). As such, it has a long-standing, active presence in Cayman with many clients from those early days remaining under management.

United Insurance Company (United), the Island's first active reinsurance company (non-captive) has been managed by the office since November 1975. Our personnel provide underwriting and claims support, as well as finance, accounting and corporate services to United.

About the Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands is the second largest domicile for captive insurance companies worldwide and holds the number one position for healthcare sector captives.

As at June 30, 2018, Cayman's approximately 700 licensed captive insurance companies wrote premiums of US$21.3 billion and held total assets of US$59.9 billion.

As at June 30, 2019, Cayman captive premiums by product line were split as follows; Medical Malpractice 34%, Workers’ Compensation 22%, Property 12%, General Liability 10%, Professional Liability 9% and others including Accident & Health, Auto, Credit Life, Deferred Variable Annuities, Life, Marine & Aviation, Product Liability, and Surety Bonds 13%.

The Insurance Law (2010) gives the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) the responsibility of regulating the insurance industry in the Cayman Islands. This includes licensing, on-going supervision and enforcement. The day-to-day regulatory oversight of the insurance sector falls to CIMA's Insurance Supervision Division. http://www.cimoney.com.ky
