The Battle for Top Talent in the Professional Services Sector

Data, analysis and insights to make future people decisions, build your EVP and optimise medical spend

Failure to attract and retain top talent, rated the second-highest risk facing UK employers in Aon’s Global Risk Management Survey, is an ever-present challenge for professional services organisations.

Balancing employees’ changing demands and expectations against the financial constraints posed upon employers in providing a competitive remuneration and benefits package is becoming increasingly difficult. Exacerbated by the ever-intensifying war for talent, the need to engage multigenerational workforces and managing a sharp increase in medical costs, identifying actionable insights from credible data is a top priority for all businesses.

Last year saw record increases in companies’ spend on private medical cover, with premiums increasing an average of 32 percent1. Despite this, 2024 saw an increase in access to cover for previously uninsured employees, perhaps unsurprising given that Generations Z, Y and X all identified access to medical care as the most valued benefit provided by their employer, according to this year’s Aon Employee Sentiment Study.

Developing a data and insight-led strategy, and accessing tools that can analyse people risk data, identify health risk trends and predict future high-value medical claims can help employers align their Employee Value Proposition to what will make a difference to their employees, drive a more engaged and healthier workforce, and ultimately support growth for their business in a turbulent economic environment.
